Project Description

This project aims at enhancing the resilience of young “freeters” (freelance or part time workers) aged 21-35 and “NEET” (people not in employment, education or training) outside school network against drugs and providing training to secondary and tertiary students to become anti-drug ambassadors, who will then be re-engaged to disseminate anti-drugs messages to secondary students from Band 3 schools and other high-risk youths outside school network. Project elements include providing training for young freeters and tertiary students on career life planning and sports-related vocational skills with anti-drug elements; providing physical fitness training to equip participants to become “Resisting Drugs, Staying Healthy Ambassadors”; and training to selected secondary students to become school ambassadors; and having all trained ambassadors to provide subsequent physical fitness training for Band 3 secondary students, young “NEET” and high-risk youths outside school network.

Project Description

The project aims at educating youngsters and public about the harmful effects of drugs through interactive Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning activities. Project elements include holding a series of STEM workshops which convey anti-drug messages to secondary students and their teachers through hands-on activities (e.g. experiments); training tertiary students to become young anti-drug ambassadors to assit in implementing the project; producing ready-to-use anti-drug STEM teaching kits for secondary school teachers to spread the anti-drug messages to other students; and holding an announcement conference to promote the use of STEM educational approach to secondary school teachers.
